Man, who set woman ablaze in Kannur, succumbs to burn injuries

KANNUR: The youngster who set a woman ablaze in Kuttiyattur in Kannur succumbed to burn injuries. Jijesh, who was undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital due to burns, died this morning. The police were about to register a case against him for the murder of the young woman.

Praveena (39), wife of Ajeesh of Karaprath House in Uruvachal, was brutally murdered by Jijesh. The incident took place in a rented house where Ajeesh's father Achuthan, mother Susheela, Praveena and daughter Sivada lived. Ajeesh is working abroad.

Jijesh entered the house and asked Achuthan, who was sitting in front of the house, for water. He then went into the kitchen and set Praveena on fire.

Hearing the commotion, the neighbours and locals reached the area and doused the fire. The two were then rushed to the hospital. As per reports, Praveena and Jijesh were longtime friends but got estranged during the last few months.
