TRIPUNITHURA: On Sunday morning, just hours before the final rites, late actor Sreenivasan’s grief-stricken younger son Dhyan sadly accepted the reality that his father would never again touch a pen again. To write in a full-scape paper was one of the most cherished pastimes of late actor Sreenivasan.

After discussing with friends, relatives and elder brother Vineeth, a decision was taken to place a paper along with Sreenivasan’s pen on the funeral pyre. Dhyan went inside his father’s room, took the late actor’s pen and a paper. He then approached his elder brother to write something on the blank paper, but Vineeth stumbled. He was not even in a state to think properly. Vineeth suggested Dhyan approach Sreenivasan’s best friend and frequent collaborator, Sathyan Anthikad, to pen the final tribute.

Without waiting a second, Sathyan Anthikad wrote, "May only good things happen to everyone." Sathyan Anthikad then placed the pen and paper on the pyre with a sigh.

The legacy of Sreenivasan, who transcended the notions of beauty and transformed Malayalam cinema with his intellect, logic and humour, will remain immortal. The cremation took place at 11.30 am yesterday. Sreeni’s wife, Vimala, and children, Vineeth and Dhyan, were devastated and not yet ready to bid adieu to their loved one. The funeral was held with full official honours.
