CHAZHOOR: PT Kochu Velayudhan is dejected and hurt over Union Minister Suresh Gopi's refusal to accept his petition. The video of the incident was viral on social media in the last two days. Velayudhan requested help from the Union Minister to build a house, which the minister ignored, saying it was not under his jurisdiction and asked the elder citizen to approach the panchayat. The incident took place at the Kalunk Amitabh Development Meeting, a forum set up in Pullu for people to present local development issues.

“I went to give the petition along with another person. When the other person saw the minister ignoring me, he slowly walked back, fearing embarrassment. I wanted a microphone to raise my issues to the minister. I need a house; I have no place to sleep. It has been two years since I had a major surgery. This was mentioned in the letter,” said Kochuvelayudhan.

Two years ago, Velayudhan's house was destroyed after a coconut tree fell on it. Velayudhan approached the Union Minister for help in building a house. The senile man believes that some generous soul will help him build a house.

In the latest development, CPM has decided to build a house for Kochuvelayudhan. CPM District Secretary K.V. Abdul Khader visited Kochuvelayudhan’s house in Pullu and assured him of all help. Construction of the house will begin the next day.
