THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, facing sexual allegations, will now have a separate block in the assembly. Speaker A N Shamseer told media that the decision was based on a letter from opposition leader V D Satheesan. Rahul has to take a decision on coming to the assembly. The Speaker said that no leave application has been received so far. The 12-day assembly session, which will be held exclusively for the enactment of eight bills, will begin tomorrow.
After the allegations were levelled, Rahul had resigned from the post of Youth Congress president. He was suspended from the party and the parliamentary party. V D Satheesan had clarified the other day that Rahul is not their part in the assembly and the action against Rahul was taken based on the conviction of the leadership.
An allegation came to us in connection with Rahul Mamkootathil. No official complaint was filed against him then. He added that the party consulted and made him resign from the post of youth congress president.
Meantime, the crime branch is planning to seek legal advice on the statement of the actress against Rahul. The actress, who was adamant in her disclosure, had given the screenshots of the messages sent by Rahul to the crime branch. The actress said that she was not interested in legal action even though the evidence had been collected. In addition, the other two women who raised allegations against him had stated that they would not take legal action. With this, the crime branch is examining the legal aspects further to file a case against Rahul.
