CHENNAI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT)'s probe into the conspiracy and source of the gold in the Sabarimala gold theft case is now extending to Tamil Nadu. The investigation team questioned a Dindigul native named Mani in connection with the case. He has been summoned to appear at the Thiruvananthapuram office. The Special Investigation Team questioned D Mani (Diamond Mani) today after an expatriate businessman alleged his involvement in the gold theft case.
There is no official confirmation on whether Mani was the same infamous D Mani mentioned earlier in the case. However, after questioning, he introduced himself as MS Mani and not D Mani. He told the officials that his full name is Subramaniam and denied involvement in the gold theft case.
Mani said that someone misused his friend's mobile number, and the officers came to investigate that.
Mani said that the investigation team showed him photos and asked about the nature of the business. He said the officials didn’t even inform him about the case they were investigating. The special investigation team decided to conduct further investigation focusing on gold trading centres in Tamil Nadu to find out the main links in the case.
