Senior teacher dies in bee attack while clearing forest area

KASARGOD: A teacher died after being attacked by bees while clearing a forest area with his workers. Vijayan (56), a senior teacher of Balanthode Govt Higher Secondary School, died after attacked by the bees. The incident happened Wednesday morning while he was working in a field in Thumbodi.

Vijayan and four other workers were attacked by the bees. They were stung by bees that had built a nest in a mud pit. Although Vijayan was quickly taken to a private hospital in Bandadukka, his life could not be saved. Vijayan's death came just months before he was to retire from service.
