THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala has demanded that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) should explain what evidence led to the arrest of the Sabarimala chief priest in the gold plating theft case. He said that when a person like the Sabarimala tantri is arrested, the investigation team has a responsibility to clearly inform the public about the reasons behind the action.
Chennithala also raised doubts over the timing of the arrest, questioning whether it was meant to divert public attention after CPM leaders were jailed in connection with the gold plating theft case. He further stated that the court, while granting bail, observed that there was no evidence against the tantri. He added that it should be examined whether the arrest and imprisonment of the tantri were part of a political move by the government.
