THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Immunoglobulin used for rabies vaccination is not available in hospitals including medical colleges in the state. Due to this, people who are bitten by dogs and cats had to visit several hospitals. Kerala Medical Services Corporation (KMSCL) is in charge of providing the medicine. It is reported that the shortage of immunoglobulin is due to a fault in the tender.

A kid who was bitten by a dog in Parassala last day, was unable to get immunoglobulin even after visiting several hospitals. Finally, the kid was given two doses for Rs 703.5 from SAT hospital. After the incident came to light, the Directorate of Health Department directed the District Medical Officers for local purchase for immediate availability of Immunoglobulin.
