KOCHI: Authorities have temporarily called off the rescue operation to rescue 'Subhash', who has been stuck in a Metro pillar for a week. The cat named Subhash is causing trouble for the rescuers by running inside the pillar. This led to the mission being suspended. Authorities say that the cat's health is fine as it is running around. The mission will resume at 11 pm.
Rescue workers said that food and a cage for the cat have been placed on top of the pillar. The fire force and the animal rescue team are jointly carrying out the rescue operation. The hydraulic lift malfunctioned during the rescue operation, which was a major setback.
After noticing that Subhash was stuck in the pillar, the team first checked near pillar 385, but could not find the cat. Metro services were stopped for 15 minutes to catch the cat. As part of the rescue mission, vehicles were allowed to pass only on one side of the road below. This caused a major traffic jam. The mission began at 11 am.
The authorities initially decided to carry out the rescue operation by turning off the power lines at night after the metro services ended. However, the demand for an immediate rescue operation was intensified after footage emerged showing the cat in a weak condition. Footage of the cat lying tired in a corner on top of a pillar emerged this morning.
