KOZHIKODE: Actor and BJP state committee member Devan has rejected Union Minister Suresh Gopi's claim that raids were conducted at the residences of movie stars to divert attention from the Sabarimala gold plating controversy. Devan said Suresh Gopi's statement was wrong and called such thinking "nonsense." He added that what Suresh Gopi said was only his personal opinion.

"I don't think the media is trying to divert attention from the Sabarimala issue. The media and the High Court are both being vigilant about this matter. What happened in Sabarimala is not a controversy; it's daylight robbery. Looting has taken place not only in Sabarimala but also in other temples. Those involved in the looting should not be the ones investigating it. An independent agency should investigate the matter under the supervision of the High Court," Devan said.

Earlier, Union Minister Suresh Gopi had claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on the residences of actors in connection with the Bhutan vehicle smuggling case were intended to cover up the Sabarimala gold plating controversy. He made the remark during a discussion program held in Palakkad.
