KOLLAM: My daughter will never commit suicide, said Rajasekharan Pillai, father of Athulya, who ended her life in Sharjah. Her husband Satheesh started harassing her shortly after their marriage. He started harassing her in the name of dowry two months after the marriage.
'Had decided to end the relationship. However, the court united the two through counseling. He used to abuse her brutally after drunk. She had suffered a lot. As a wife she had never lived happily even on a single day. She wanted to come back, but he did not allow that. He kept her there to make touchings (bar snacks often enjoyed with alcoholic beverages). He makes her tie his shoelaces. A wife’s consideration was not given. She tolerated everything for the sake of their 10-year-old daughter,’ said Pillai.
Athulya's mother Thulasi Bhai said her daughter would never commit suicide and sought justice for her daughter. She said that her daughter had told her that if she dies like that, should think that he killed me. My daughter will never die on her birthday. Satheesh is speaking contradictorily. He may have hung her. Satheesh was suspicious and threatened her soon after their engagement. He had harassed her brutally in an inebriated condition in front of their daughter,' said her mother.
The police have registered a case against her husband Satheesh in the death of Athulya (30) of Kollam at a flat in Sharjah. The Thekkumbhagam police in Chavara registered a murder case on the complaint of Athulya's family. Charges of physical and dowry harassments have also been imposed.
