THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director and Bigg Boss Season 5 winner Akhil Marar said that the work carried out by Twenty20 party in Kizhakkambalam is a mini version of what Kerala should be in the future. Akhil Marar clarified that there was no way he was joining any other party, as his ideology totally aligned with that of Sabu Jacob. The press conference comes amid rumours that Akhil Marar will be made a candidate in Twenty20 Kottarakkara.

Akhil Marar:

“Thoughts and opinions sometimes come in favour of the BJP, UDF and the Left. Independent thoughts are more prevalent. I made a movie portraying the fight of a businessman who is crushed by the heinous politics of various parties. The film was titled ‘Oru Thathvika Avalokanam’. At that time, I had talked with Sabu Jacob. I was surprised when I learned of the vision Twenty20 wanted to bring, as it was what I had thought years ago, even before the party was born.

Twenty20 did not expand beyond Ernakulam district. If that had not been the case, I would have made this presser years before. Many times, my opinions came in favour of UDF as I thought it was vital to support the opposition against this regime. More than empty promises and politics, Kerala needs real development.

India is going through a massive developmental phase. Even the railways are exponentially growing in terms of standard. Even Kollam MP Premachandran endorsed this. India has grown to become the fourth-largest economy in the world. We cannot pretend not to see the developments taking place in our country. However, Kerala prefers to sit ideologically different from the country and take comfort.

Former minister and CPI leader C Divakaran recently accepted the reality and questioned the reality of development in Kerala compared to other states. Rather than blindly working in a party, we must understand what they are ready to offer to society.

That is where we need to look at what BJP intends with the merger of Twenty20 into NDA. If BJP decides to keep a political movement like Twenty20 under their fold, it means the ruling party of India is unflinchingly favouring development. It is no use to talk about the politics that prevailed in India during the 80s and 90s. Take a long-term vision of what you expect the newer generation to get in 2040. Considering that, there is no other party than Twenty20 one could align with”
