THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thousands of people bid a tearful adieu to the five people who were brutally murdered in Venjarammoodu. Emotional scenes unfolded as the bodies, handed over to the families after post-mortem at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, were brought home.
The funeral of Afan’s female friend, Farsana, was the first to be completed. Her body was taken to her house in Puthoor, Venjarammoodu. After a public viewing, the burial rites were held at Kattumurakkal Juma Masjid in Chirayinkeezhu. Farsana’s father Sunil is from Chirayinkeezhu, and the family had recently relocated to Puthoor.
The last rites of the accused Afan’s grandmother, Salma Beevi, his brother Afsan, his father’s brother Latheef, and Latheef’s wife Shahida were conducted at Thazhe Pangode Muslim Juma Masjid. The bodies of Salma Beevi and Afsan were brought to their home in Pangode, where a large number of relatives and locals gathered to pay their last respects. Meanwhile, the bodies of Latheef and Shahida were taken to their residence at Chullalam in SN Puram.
