WAYANAD: The Thamarassery Ghat road is on threat again. Although boulders and soil were removed from near the view point at the ninth bend of the pass and traffic was restored, there was a mudslide in the same place in the morning. Small rocks fell on the road while vehicles were going in both directions. The rocks fell when a vehicle passed. With this, traffic has been banned again at the pass. There are rains in the area.

The mudslide occurred at the ninth bend on Tuesday night. After 26 hours of efforts, vehicles were able to pass through the pass by 8:30 last night. All the vehicles stranded in Vythiri, Lakkidi and the pass were allowed to pass. After all these vehicles were allowed to pass, the pass was closed yesterday as a safety precaution. The authorities had earlier stated that normal traffic would be allowed after conducting a security check this morning.

Meantime, there was another mudslide in ghat road, causing difficulties in restoring traffic. Heavy rain was another challenge. Traffic was restored with the cooperation of the police, fire force and locals. The collector and public representatives had come here to monitor the situation.
