THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Parties except BJP have said that they do not agree with the controversial voter list revision implemented in Bihar being carried out in Kerala. Leaders informed the meeting called by the Chief Electoral Officer that a resolution will be brought against it in the Assembly on the 29th. Chief Electoral Officer Dr Ratan Kelkar clarified that the objections will be conveyed to the Central Election Commission and that action will be taken once the state schedule is received.

CPM representative MV Jayarajan clarified that the Bihar model cannot be implemented in Kerala. "I do not understand the logic of saying that even those who voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections should fill in the enumeration form. Instead of the 2002 voter list, the 2024 voter list should be made the basic document," he demanded. Congress representative P.C. Vishnunath pointed out that it would be practically difficult to implement SIR when local body elections are about to be held. He demanded that ration cards should also be included in the 12 basic documents.

There was criticism that there was a mystery in the fact that district collectors held meetings in five districts before convening a meeting of political parties, and in the fact that preparations for the reform were being made in Kerala before the Supreme Court's decision on complaints regarding the reform. Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U Khelkar's response was that the solution to the allegation of double voting was reform. Meanwhile, the BJP has adopted a stance welcoming the reform. BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan said that no one is being excluded from the voter list and that ineligible people should not be included in the list.
