'Why rush for intercourse when somebody promises marriage?' Controversial response to Rahul Mamkootathil issue

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Trinamool Congress leader Saji Manjakadambil shamed the complainants in the sexual case allegations against Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The abusive remarks were made at a press conference.

“Why are girls rushing to engage in coitus if someone promises marriage. They should show caution and restraint. Phone chats and flattering promises of marriage are no approval to engage in a physical act. I have two daughters, and I advise them the same.

Girls should wear modest dress in public. I am very sure that my daughters or the girls I know will never ignore my words. It is up to us, seniors and parents, to take proper care of our daughters. If we set them loose, then there is no point crying later.

Others engage in similar risqué clothing in the name of movies. If you face harassment at a movie set, it is vital to respond immediately rather than waiting for years.

The allegations against Rahul are from 2020, which is almost five years back, even before he was an MLA. If proven wrong, these people who raised allegations should be put behind bars. An honest investigation is needed in this case”
