PATHANAMTHITTA: Albeit in fire over an egregious controversy, MLA Rahul Mamkootathil confirmed that he will not resign from his MLA post. It is reported that Rahul, who is currently at his house in Adoor, may soon meet the media to clarify the matter.
“There is no complaint or FIR against me. I resigned from my position as YC president just because of the allegations. I will soon be able to explain my side of the issue to the party leadership. I will clear my side and will convince the leadership, too. The cry and hollering for my resignation simply reeks of politics, and it carries no weight,” said Rahul.
At the same time, dissent is brewing within the Congress camp over Rahul's reluctance to step down from the MLA post. With the local assembly elections around the corner, the leadership fears Rahul's stance to backfire. Opposition leader VD Satheesan, on Saturday morning, gave a hint that Rahul might resign from the MLA post. However, the young leaders’ current stance has muddled up equations within Congress.
