Woman found dead inside coach; trains being delayed

KOCHI: A woman was found dead on a train. She has been identified as Isaivani Kunhipillai of Tamil Nadu. She looks around 40 years of age. She was found unconscious when the train, which had departed from Karaikal in Tamil Nadu, reached Ernakulam South Railway Station. After being examined by the medical team of the railway police, she was immediately shifted to the General Hospital. Her death was confirmed here.


She was found dead in the S4 coach of the 16187 Karaikal-Ernakulam Express, which reached Ernakulam South Railway Station this morning. The train, which reached Ernakulam in the morning, was later travelling as Kottayam passenger. Passengers proceeding towards Kottayam found Isaivani lying unconscious in the train.


They initially thought she was sleeping, but found her motionless and when examined found her dead. Later, officials arrived and moved her body from the train. The officials said the cause of death will be clear only after the postmortem. Railway sources said that she was travelling alone and other things are being investigated.


The train departed an hour late following the incident. Due to this, trains bound for Thiruvananthapuram were held up at various stations.
