THRISSUR: Passengers on board the Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express were shocked after allegedly finding worms in the dal curry served with their lunch. The incident occurred on October 2. According to reports, Mangaluru native Soumini and her family, who boarded the train from Thrissur, discovered worms in the dal curry served along with rice. Soumini also claimed that several co-passengers found similar contamination in their meals.
“I had warned my children to be careful while eating, as I had read earlier reports about worms being found in Vande Bharat meals,” Soumini said. After noticing the worms, the family immediately alerted the catering staff and filed a complaint with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The IRCTC subsequently refunded the meal charges and assured the family that further action would be taken.
This is not the first such complaint. On April 2, another passenger traveling from Kannur to Kasaragod on the Vande Bharat Express had reported finding worms in the food served to him. In that instance, worms were allegedly found in a porotta. The passenger recorded a video showing the contaminated food and submitted a complaint to the Railway Superintendent at Kasaragod. The matter was later forwarded to the Palakkad Railway Division for investigation.
