Youngster shot dead as wild boar hunting goes wrong in Kannur

KANNUR: A young man was shot dead in Peringome Vellora in Kannur on Sunday. The victim was identified as Sijo, a native of Edakkom. The body of the young man was found in a rubber estate in Vellora. The incident took place around 5 am today. Initial information suggests that the death might be an accident while hunting. Sijo's friend Shine has been taken into custody by the police.

The youths were carrying country-made guns. Shine told the police that the incident occurred when he went out to catch a wild boar. The Peringome police have started an investigation into the incident. A team led by Payyannur DySP has reached the spot. The body will be shifted to a nearby hospital. Locals said that it was usual for wild boars to enter human habitat in the region. Police will investigate whether there is any mystery behind the death.
