THRISSUR: Youth Congress workers staged a violent attack at the Thrissur bureau office of Reporter TV. The incident took place on Friday. The congress activists poured black oil on the walls of the office and hoisted flags on the company car. Notices insulting the channel were also posted on the walls of the office. The attack was led by Youth Congress state general secretary Mithun Mohan, district vice president Moban, and district vice president Vishnu Chandran.
As per reports, the attack came in the backdrop of a revelation made by a former journalist of the firm alleging sexual harassment by one of the senior journalists. The Kerala Journalists Union District Committee protested against the incident. The union demanded that the authorities take strong action to prevent a recurrence of attacks and intrusions on media institutions and ensure exemplary punishment for the accused.
The CPM Thrissur District Committee also condemned the incident. CPI District Secretary KG Sivanandan also condemned the incident, expressing concern over the suppression of press freedom in the country.
