Youth dies in accident after lying unattended for nearly four hours on road

MUVATTUPUZHA: A youth was killed after his bike rammed into a parked timber lorry. The accident happened near the Muvattupuzha Velloorkunnam signal junction on the Ernakulam M C Road. The dead has been identified as Ananthu Chandran (30), son of Chandran Chettiar of Alungaparambil, South Pampady, Kottayam and Shobha. Ananthu was a manager of a private financial firm.


The accident occurred around 1 am on Wednesday. The timber lorry was parked on the roadside due to a punctured tyre. The lorry driver came to know about the accident only around 5.15 am on Wednesday. The driver and Shaukath of Pezhakkappilly and youths in another vehicle took Ananthu to Muvattupuzha MCS Hospital, but his life could not be saved.


Ananthu had suffered serious head injuries. Shaukath said that he showed hands to several vehicles seeking help to take him to the hospital, but none stopped. Some stopped but was not willing to help. The lorry driver and Shaukath together waved to about sixty vehicles that passed by on the MC Road. Finally, a group of youths in a car helped them to take him to the hospital. Ananthu's sister Arya Chandran is in the UK.
