THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP state unit is planning to move closer to the Muslim community. As part of this, the party is planning to visit all Muslim homes in the state. The decision is to visit as part of the local body elections. BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that a Muslim outreach will be started under the leadership of party state vice president Dr Abdul Salam.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the aim is to unite the minorities and this is not to win votes. All Muslim homes will be visited. The message of a developed Kerala that BJP wants to create will be given everywhere. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that CPM and Congress will inject poison into the minorities.
However, although Rajeev Chandrasekhar says that he is trying to get closer to the Muslim community not for the purpose of votes, political observers say that the aim is votes. BJP has a good connection with the Christian community. The party centers themselves admit that Christian ties have helped BJP increase its vote share in many constituencies in the state in the Lok Sabha elections. Christian votes also played a significant role in Suresh Gopi's victory in Thrissur.
The BJP began reaching out to the community by visiting Christian homes ahead of Easter in the name of snehayatra. Leaders from booth level to the Christian homes visited Christian homes and handed over greeting cards with pictures of Jesus Christ and Prime Minister Modi.
