KOCHI: LDF councillor Kala Raju has alleged that it was CPM members who abducted her during the no-confidence motion discussion in the Koothattukulam Municipality. She also claimed that those who abducted her threatened to chop off her leg. Kala Raju made these statements following a police case filed regarding her abduction.
"They spoke to me in extremely abusive language, dragged me into a car, and assaulted me," the councillor alleged. She further stated that when her leg got stuck in the car, a CPM worker threatened to cut it off.
"I was taken to the CPM area committee office after being abducted. Although I experienced physical discomfort, they did not take me to a hospital. When I suffered chest pain, they gave me a tablet for gas trouble, said Kala Raju, who is currently admitted to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Koothattukulam.
The incident occurred while a no-confidence motion was about to be discussed in the Koothattukulam Municipality. Following the complaint, the police have registered a case against 45 individuals, including the CPM Koothattukulam area secretary, the municipal chairperson, the vice-chairman, and the party's local secretary.
The vice-chairman of the municipality, Sunny Kuriakose, stated that Kala Raju and others were at the party office after being asked to refrain from participating in the no-confidence motion discussion initiated by the UDF. However, Kala Raju rejected this claim and came forward with her version of the events.
