Who will be Congress's chief ministerial candidate in Kerala? Shocking stance from High command

NEW DELHI: The Congress high command has given a clear indication that there will be no chief ministerial candidate in the assembly elections to be held in Kerala next year. This is said to have been informed during a meeting with leaders in Kerala on Tuesday. This comes amid reports that opposition leader VD Satheesan, senior leader Ramesh Chennithala, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, former KPCC presidents K Sudhakaran and K Muraleedharan and others are working towards the chief ministerial post.

The high command had received information about strings being pulled. The national leadership had instructed the leaders in Kerala not to engage in a tug-of-war for the post of Chief Minister. The lack of collective leadership in Kerala was criticised, and it was said that many leaders are only focused on improving their own image.

Rahul Gandhi demanded improvement in the grassroots work in the meeting. Many of the AICC's suggestions are not being implemented at the organizational level in Kerala. Differences should be discussed and decided. The only criterion for selecting candidates will be the possibility of victory. K Sudhakaran had openly told the national leadership that it is some leaders who are creating disunity within the party and that they will be able to win the next elections if such activities are stopped.

Core Committee to be formed

A core committee will be formed to enhance coordination among the leaders in Kerala and to take important decisions. All the key leaders will be in the committee. The AICC had approved the campaign plan put forward by the KPCC in connection with the local body and assembly elections with some amendments.
