THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Rini Ann George was booed by a faction of Congress workers while she arrived at Thiruvananthapuram to take part in the oath-taking ceremony of V.D. Satheesan. Rini responded to the incident in a Facebook post, terming those who booed at her as renegades, not Congress workers.

Rini's Facebook post:

“A beautiful day in my life.. The day when the person I affectionately called MLA became the CM of Kerala. This is a dream come true. I was lucky enough to witness that historic moment with tears in my eyes from the stage itself.. A moment I never expected. I got the opportunity to meet and talk to many national leaders. Seeing all this, some renegades hollered and booed at me. I ignored them with the contempt they deserved. I don't think they were Congress workers because Congress workers treated me with such love. For those propagating fake news that I was chased away by the Congressmen from the oath-taking venue, I am sharing a picture of me with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who was present at the ceremony...”

Rini has repeatedly stated that she has a close personal relationship with Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan. She also used to regularly share pictures with Satheesan on social media. After the assembly election victory, when the high command announced V. D. Satheesan as the Chief Minister, Rini came up with a post which went viral on social media.

"My Sree Padmanabhan will now rule Kerala from the land of Padmanabhan..." This post praising V. D. Satheesan's Chief Ministerial post was widely discussed in Congress cyber groups, leading to strong criticism.

It was Rini who first levelled allegations against Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, which snowballed into a serious issue, unveiling a series of sexual assault cases, which even led to the arrest of the Palakkad MLA. Since that day, Rini turned enemy number 1 for the supporters and loyalists of Rahul Mamkootathil.
