THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Teachers no longer need to spend days skimming through students' answer sheets. An AI-based mobile app can evaluate answer sheets and gives marks within minutes. Developed by software developer Aishwarya S. Lal, a native of Keshavadasapuram in Thiruvananthapuram, the app is called Red Ink.
The answer key of the exam and the answer sheets of the students should be scanned and uploaded to the app in PDF format. The app will analyse the answers according to the questions and give marks. Since the app works on artificial intelligence, it can accurately award marks the answers written in an analytical form, after understanding the concept. If the answer is marked less, the reason will also be clarified.
Aishwarya, an IT engineering graduate, developed the app for her father Ajayalal's software research and development center, Supersoft. This will reduce the workload of teachers. Aishwarya's mother is Shasilekha. Her sister is Akhila.
Will collaborate with schools
The app will be available for free on the Play Store. Aishwarya said that collaboration with schools is also under consideration. Supersoft is an organisation that has been working in the Malayalam computing sector since 1990. It was Supersoft that developed the Malayalam DTP software 'Thoolika' and the first Unicode font in Malayalam, 'Thoolika Unicode'.
