Long years of trust and happy family; Experts decode the 'Art of cheating'

Trust is pivotal in a relationship. The years of living together may have led many to falsely believe how good they are at deciphering the mood changes of their partners. The trust is so blind that many dont even have any idea of what their partners are upto.

Psychologists point out that the signs of cheating are much subtler. Experts say that eight changes in a partner's behaviour could be signs of cheating.

• While speaking in front of others, have you ever encountered your partner quickly taking over control to present the narrative in a way that suits him? Studies show that this is an attempt to portray the relationship as steady and rock-solid, in front of others.

• Is your partner currently giving in to arguments which he opposed before? If so, guard yourself. The feeling to accept everything sprouts from a fear of secrets getting exposed.

• Demanding excessive privacy can be a sign of cheating. Not allowing access to personal phones is not always a good sign in a relationship. The habit of changing passwords too frequently also adds to the worries.

• Seen this one? The expression of relief in partners when one stops talking about something suspicious. If yes is the answer, then somebody is hiding something.

• Being facetious while discussing serious matters. Too much sarcasm when the situation least demands it.

• Physical changes such as stuttering while speaking, staring intently, and tensing of the nerves in the neck. These are common among people who cheat.

However, it is not yet a case of certitude enough to give the tagline of ‘cheater’ to someone who meets all of these attributes. However, if communication wanes and partners exhibit these behaviours, professional help is recommended.
