THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government, building on the success of its affordable 'Jawan' rum, is launching its own brandy. Suggest a name and logo for the government's new brandy to win a prize of Rs 10,000 each. This offer is from the Beverages Corporation. Malabar Distilleries is set to launch a new Kerala-made brandy, but its brand name isn't finalised yet. The opportunity to name the new brandy Malabar Distilleries is launching is open to the public. The facility is expected to be operational by February 2026 at Menonpara, Palakkad, with a goal of producing 13,500 to 15,000 cases per day using a new automated plant.
The best suggestions from the public will be selected. Suggestions should be sent to the e-mail address malabardistilleries@gmail.com by January 7. The prize money will be given at the brandy's inauguration ceremony, the Bevco MD said.
While other distilleries produce brandies like "Malabar Special Brandy," this new venture by the state government is distinct and is seeking public input for its official name. This move expands the government's liquor portfolio beyond Jawan rum, catering to preferences in northern Kerala where brandy is popular.
