A man was lucky enough to earn crores of rupees by selling the gourd he had cultivated in his own garden. Roy Story, a man from North Carolina, has been roped in by the goddess of fortune this time. The man purchased the Xtreme Cashword ticket from Sun Farm in Elizabeth City from the profit he earned from the sale of pumpkins. It won $150,000 (Rs 1.26 crore) as a jackpot prize.

Roy Story cultivated pumpkins in his vegetable garden as part of Halloween, which is observed once a year in North Carolina. Story bought the ticket at a cost of $10 (Rs 835) from the profit. The farmer told the media that he cultivates pumpkins in his garden and sells them every year.

“Someone gave me $10 for a pumpkin and I used that to buy the ticket. I bought the tickets because I like to play cashword. I didn’t have my glasses on. “I thought I won $1,000 (Rs 83,500).”

Roy Story took his prize on Monday. He is planning to use the $107,251 he got to buy something many people dream of, a truck.

There have been many similar incidents. On September 25, a woman in Frederick County, Maryland, received $500,000 (Rs 4 crore) in the Powerball double-play ticket draw. The woman told the media that it was an unexpected win for her and added that the money received would be used to buy a house and provide better education to her children. The woman bought the ticket from a place in Urbana Pike and the seller received a bonus of $1,000 for selling the tickets.
