KOLLAM: A 1500kg stingray got webbed into the net of a boat that went fishing from Kollam Neendakara shores. The boat name Velankkani Matha belonged to Mattes from Thiruvananthapuram Pozhiyoor.

In the sound auction crowded by a rapturous crowd in Needankara harbor, Sakthikulangara native Babu took the stingray for a whopping Rs 27000. The sea devil was later transferred to the Tuticorin fish plant.

The net weighed more this time, recollects the fishermen folks. All labor to lift the heavy one to the boat fell in vain. It was dragged to the harbor and was later brought up with the help of a crane. This catch is unprecedented in Neendakara and is special on all accounts.
