KOLENCHERY: Kunnathunadu is reshaping itself as a VIP constituency in the assembly elections. The Twenty20 party, which rose to prominence through this constituency, is all prepared to win the big fight in Kunnathunadu. This is the T20 party’s first election after becoming an NDA ally.

Former Congress turncoat and now CPM MLA PV Srinijin is likely to contest again. V.P. Sajeendran, who represented the constituency for two terms, will be the UDF candidate. Unofficial information is that the Twenty20 candidate selection committee has prepared a list of three people. The Twenty20 method is to declare a candidate first and then amplify the campaigning.

UDF's V.P. Sajeendran won twice after Kunnathunadu became a reserved constituency. Last time, Sajeendran lost to P.V. Sreenijin by 2715 votes. The big upset was due to the 42,701 votes grabbed by the T20 party candidate.

In the Lok Sabha and three-tier panchayat elections, the LDF's graph in Kunnathunadu declined. In the Lok Sabha, UDF's Benny Behanan MP from Kunnathunadu got 52,523 votes, while T20 came second with 46,163 votes. LDF, which received 39,089 votes, came third. LDF also came third in the local body election results. However, it is important to know how the LDF-UDF unity formed during local body elections in Kizhakkambalam will be reflected in the assembly elections.
