Xabi Alonso to bring highly rated Madrid winger to Liverpool; discussions ongoing

MERSYSIDE: Liverpool Football Club has reportedly made contact with former Real Madrid coach and Kop legend Xabi Alonso as a possible replacement for Arne Slot. The Dutchman, who made history helping the Reds win the league title on his debut season, saw his plans go askew in the second season as the team is yet to come out of their shambolic performances.

According to reports, the Liverpool management made contact with the Spaniard, and the former Real Madrid coach will likely reach Anfield by the start of next season.

Slot’s Liverpool team is still in contention to win the Champions League, but their Premier League status is beyond embarrassing. The ongoing poor run has even put the chances of a top-four finish in uncertainty.

According to British media, Liverpool is looking to bring not just Alonso but also Real Madrid winger Arda Güler to the squad to replace the phenomenal Mohammad Salah, who announced that he will leave the club by the end of this season.
