Youth falls into sea, drowns while shooting for album with friends

VIZHINJAM: A youth, who reached the Azhimala Shiva temple in Pulinkudi, fell into the sea and died while filming a video on his mobile phone. The deceased has been identified as Jyothish (25), son of Punalur native Sukumaran and Geetha. He was a member of a 21-member pilgrimage group that came to the temple. The incident took place at around 3.45 pm on Sunday.

After reaching the temple, Jyothish and his friends Vineeth, Abhilash, Sumesh and Unni climbed a nearby rock and started filming a video on their mobile phones to make an album. While the gang was filming the video, a huge wave came unexpectedly and swept Jyothish into the sea. Soon, he sunk into the sea. Following this, Vizhinjam Coastal Police reached the spot and conducted a search. During an hour-long search, the youth was found dead a short distance from where he had fallen.

Jyothish was a studio employee in Kollam. The body is kept in the Medical College Hospital mortuary.
