THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The beeline queue in front of railway stations is going to be scenes of a bygone era. Train tickets have adopted their digital form, and a simple scan of a QR code gets you the ticket in one go. The QR code placed near the railway stations needs to be scanned using your mobile phone. After entering the details of the itinerary, go for payment using mobile payment apps. Platform and season tickets can also be made use of this QR code.

General tickets are also available through this process. It is an arduous task to queue up to collect tickets. With the introduction of QR codes for tickets in stations, the old time-consuming method will be cut short. The UTS app for tickets is already in service. But the QR code method is easier with no hassles when it comes to payment, unlike the UTS version that requires the payment and the details to be entered through the application before the journey.

The southern railway has so far sold a gargantuan Rs 24 crores ticket online. Finding user-friendly and easy in the handling of this method, more people are tilting in favor of online booking rather than clouding up near ticket counters. The QR code should be scanned using the UTS app. The destination should be entered which will show the lists of trains traveling on that route. A proper selection should be made and then make payment through any app of your choice.
