LUCKNOW: A two-day-old baby was thrown into a pond that is 20 feet deep. The attempt was to kill the newborn but miraculously the baby got saved— it was no spellwork but it is the water hyacinths that kept the baby afloat from drowning. The incident happened in Nawabganj in the Bareli district.
The newborn was blanketed in white cloth and was thrown into the water. The police are yet to identify the culprit behind the act. The village chief was walking down the road when he caught the baby floating amidst the water hyacinths. The police were informed and the baby was rushed to the nearby hospital. The newborn was later transferred to the child welfare committee where they named her Ganga.
