NEW DELHI: Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to protect and conserve wildlife. PM Modi’s visit to Karnataka to attend various ‘Project Tiger’ events drew appreciation from Pietersen.

"ICONIC! A world leader who adores wild animals and is so excited when spending time with them in their natural habitat. Remember, for his last birthday, he released cheetahs into the wild in India. HERO, @narendramodi," the ex-cricketer wrote on Twitter.

Pietersen runs a charity, ‘Save our Rhinos in Africa and India (SORAI)’ to protect and rescue rhinos who are either injured or abandoned in the wild. He had met PM Modi on the sidelines of The Raisina Dialogue event in New Delhi earlier this year.
