Later actor Mamukkoya's son Nisar has responded to the claims that Mamukkoya was not given the respect he deserved. Very few people from the film industry had turned up in Kozhikode to pay their last respect to the legendary actor. Earlier, director VM Vinu had lashed out at the film personalities for not turning up in Kozhikode to pay last respects to Mamukkoya.
On Thursday, VM Vinu said that more people from the film industry would have turned up if Mamukkoya had died in Ernakulam. However, Nisar said that he has no complaints regarding the absence of prominent personalities in Mamukkoya's funeral ceremony.
"My father never used to complain about anything. People will be busy due to various commitments and it might be impossible for them to come here amidst their busy schedules. The controversy that broke out following my father's death should end with this. Only prayers are enough for my father," Nisar said.
Mamukkoya breathed his last at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Wednesday afternoon. He suffered a heart attack followed by a brain hemorrhage. He was 76. The body was kept for public homage at the Kozhikode town hall from 3 pm on Wednesday. The body was laid to rest at the Kannamparambu kabarsthan in Kozhikode will full state honours.
