NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has sent a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the bail plea filed by former principal secretary M Sivasankar who is in jail in the Life Mission case. Sivasankar approached the Supreme Court after the High Court rejected his bail plea. A bench headed by Justice V Ramasubramanian decided to hear the bail plea on May 17.
When Sivashankar's lawyer said that Swapna Suresh, an accused in the case, had not been arrested yet, the court asked if Swapna had not been arrested before. Sivasankar's lawyer replied that Swapna was arrested in another case. The lawyer said that there was no need for Sivasankar to remain in custody in the Life Mission case. He also informed the court that Sivasankar is suffering from various serious health issues as he was diagnosed with cancer.
