Investigation into Chennithala's complaint against Watch and Ward

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speaker AN Shamseer has directed the Assembly's Privileges and Ethics Committee to conduct an inquiry into former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala's complaint alleging that the Watch and Ward staff and Museum SI made false allegations against the Opposition MLAs.

Chennithala pointed out in the notice that the UDF MLAs, who staged a dharna in front of the Speaker's office on March 15, were forcibly removed by the Watch and Ward under the leadership of the Additional Chief Marshal without provocation.

Upon learning that MLAs Saneesh Kumar Joseph and KK Rama were injured in the use of force, Additional Chief Marshal Moideen Hussain and Sergeant Assistant Sheena filed a complaint against the MLAs by raising false allegations. On this complaint, the Museum Police booked MLAs Roji M John, PK Basheer, Anwar Sadath, IC Balakrishnan, Anoop Jacob, KK Rama, Uma Thomas and five other identifiable persons under non-bailable sections punishable by two to 10 years imprisonment. By filing a false complaint that the Watch and Ward staff sustained injuries and fractures in the attack carried out by the Opposition MLAs, an attempt was made to publicly humiliate the MLAs and portray them as perpetrators on social media. The privileges of the assembly and the MLAs were violated through this, Chennithalal stated.
