There may be disagreement and criticism, but CM belongs to everyone; Joy Mathew comes up with explanation for throwing away script

The makers of the Malayalam film 'Binary' had recently levelled serious allegations against actor Joy Mathew. Producer Jasik Ali and co-producer Rajesh Babu accused Joy Mathew of throwing away the script of the film. They also alleged that the actor threw away the costume to the face of the costume designer as it had a sambar stain on it.

Now, Joy Mathew has come out with an explanation. In his Facebook post, Joy Mathew stated that he threw away the script after seeing some dialogues in vulgar language connecting Kerala Chief Minister and a female character who is a smuggler.

'Upon noticing some dialogues in vulgar language connecting Kerala Chief Minister and a female character who is a smuggler, I said that I will not utter those lines. The director then told me that the film will become a hit only if current political issues are included in it. As an actor, I am not ready to accept that something unrelated to the story should be forcefully inserted into the script. (There may be many disagreements. There may be criticism. But no matter what, Kerala Chief Minister belongs to all of us) So, I wanted to burn the script. But I did not do it as I had no lighter with me. Hence, I threw it away,' Joy Mathew wrote.

Referring to the allegation regarding him throwing the costume to the face of the costume designer, Joy Mathew said that the allegation was only partially true.

'The allegation that I threw the costume to the face of the costume designer is only partially true. There is a correction in it. I threw away the costume to a corner of the room and not to the face of the costume designer. The coat given to me had stains of sambar on it. I have no issue with using such a coat if my character is supposed to have such a stain on the coat. However, the character that I played in the film was a person returning from the United States. I don't think anyone in the United States wash their coat after dipping it in sambar. I later acted in that scene wearing my own shirt,' Joy Mathew added.
