IMPHAL: A fresh exchange of heavy fire has been reported from Manipur where the conflict continues. Two people were killed in the firing that took place on the border of Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts at around 5 am yesterday. The attack was on the farmers working in the paddy field. Eight sustained injuries. The police have started an investigation into the incident. It is reported that four people have been arrested.
After five people were killed in a clash in Kamjong district eleven days ago, there was another firing in Manipur yesterday morning. One of the dead is from the Kuki community. The other person has not been identified. The injured were shifted to private hospitals in Imphal. Police informed that the district police, Assam Rifles and central forces deployed in the area have brought the situation under control. More than 140 people have died in Manipur so far in the conflict that started in May.
