India ended its 41-year-old wait for a gold medal in equestrian at Asian Games. On Tuesday in Hangzhou, the team consisting of Sudipti Haleja, Divyakriti Singh, Vipul Chedda and Anush Agarwala won the gold medal in the dressage category. India last won gold in equestrian at the 1982 Delhi Asian Games.
With a silver and a bronze each in sailing yesterday, India's total medal tally rose to 14 including three gold, four silver and seven bronze. Neha Thakur won silver in the ILCA-4 category race in girls' dinghy boat. Ibad Ali won bronze in Windsurfing RX. India lost to Pakistan in straight sets in the men's volleyball match for fifth place yesterday. Tulika Mann, who was a medal hope in Judo, lost in the quarters.
