KOCHI: Kitex has laid the foundation stone for the world's longest garment factory in Telangana. Situated in Sitarampur, Rangareddy district, these three factories each 1.2 km long collectively span 3.6 km. Telangana's Industries Minister, KT Rama Rao officiated the foundation stone-laying ceremony. Sabu M, Managing Director of Kitex Group announced that the 250-acre site will encompass 4.5 million square feet of buildings including the factory. Construction is slated for completion by September 2024 with an investment of 3,000 crores.
The first phase of Kitex's factory which commenced operations last year at Kakatiya Textile Park in Warangal is set to be fully operational by December of the coming year. Approximately 80% of the half-million job opportunities across both locations will be reserved for women.
The event was attended by Minister of Mines and Geology Department Mahinder Reddy, Ranjith Reddy MP, Yadaya MLA, Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Director of the Commerce and Industry Department Krishna Prabhakar, Industrial Infrastructure Corporation MD and Vice Chairman EV Narasimha Reddy, Director of the Handloom and Textiles Department Alaguvarshini, District Collector Dr S Harish and various others.
