Satvik- Chirag pair wins historic gold in Badminton at Asian Games

India clinched a historic gold medal at the Asian Games as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated the South Korean team in the badminton men's doubles final. The victory is by 21-18, 21-16.

It is the first time in the history of the Asian Games that India has won gold in badminton men's doubles. This is India's 26th gold medal. At present, India has crossed the century mark and has won 101 medals in the Asian Games.

In the women's kabaddi final, India defeated Chinese Taipei 26-24 to win the gold medal. Ojas Praveen won gold and Abhishek silver in a compound individual event in archery (men). Jyoti Surekha won gold in the women's compound event.

The Indian men's hockey team comprising Malayali player PR Sreejesh had earlier won gold. Sreejesh responded that it was a double treat to get the Olympic qualification along with the Asian Games gold. At the same time, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a reward of five lakh rupees for the players.
