HYDERABAD: The police and authorities are on high alert in Telangana after the dates for the assembly elections were announced. Vehicle inspection has been intensified under the leadership of the police on important national highways in the state. Meanwhile, the shocking incident that happened last Tuesday while the Telangana Police was conducting a vehicle inspection is being discussed.
The Telangana police noticed a truck carrying crores along the main national highway of the state at around 10 pm. The police intercepted the vehicle and were shocked to see the money. The election commission and top officials were informed. However, the suspense was out after hours. The truck was carrying the money of Union Bank from Kerala to Hyderabad. Currencies worth Rs 750 crore was in the truck.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj informed that the truck was released after completing all the formalities on Wednesday itself. He informed that the truck was released after they got convinced that the cash belonged to Union Bank. The source of the cash was clarified after contacting the officials of Union Bank and Reserve Bank.
There were allegations of money flowing into Telangana after the elections were announced. The opposition had lodged a complaint with the election commission stating that the police are not taking any action. Following this, the election commission had transferred the collectors and top police officers of various districts.
