'Superstar called me into room, destroyed my career'; actress Vichitra reveals Kerala incident

Actress Vichitra was once the heartthrob of South India and played pivotal roles in many movies. She was on her way to superstardom but stumbled somewhere in between and soon lost her steps in the cine world. Vichitra has now revealed about one unscrupulous incident that happened in the late 2000s which she thinks destroyed her acting career.

“ The shooting was in Malampuzha. On the first day during a party, the lead actor was surprised to see me on the set and engaged in casual talk. He later asked me to come to his room. The actor never even cared to ask my name. I was horrified by the very idea and denied the invitation. The next day, I was harassed on the set by this actor. The actor would then knock at my door at late night and disturb me. Seeing my plight, the hotel manager, who later became my husband, arranged another room for me.

There was a fight scene in the film where some tribals had to be harassed. One of the junior actors touched me badly as I was playing the tribal role. He was caught and brought to the stunt master, but shockingly the stunt master slapped me in front of the entire set. Complaints were made to the union and there was no cooperation. This series of incidents and inferior treatment made me leave the film industry for good.”

Vichitra who mostly played glamorous roles in more than 100 films has also acted in Malayalam. Meanwhile, people who were intrigued by the revelation foraged the internet and found that it was Superstar Balakrishna’s movie Bhalevadivi Basu(2001) that Vichitra was referring to. Vichitra's shocking statement came through the BiggBoss show where she is a contestant.
