Low pressure area over Arabian Sea likely to cause thunderstorms in Kerala in next five days

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the rain probability report for the next five days in Kerala. A cyclonic circulation prevails over southern Sri Lanka and the surrounding area. A low pressure area is likely to be located over South East Arabian Sea to North Maharashtra from November 29 to December 1.

"Due to its influence, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next five days. Also, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Kerala on November 30 and December 1", the IMD informed.

A depression has formed over the South Andaman Sea, likely to become a cyclonic storm. Low pressure is located over South Andaman Sea. It will move in a west-northwest direction and is likely to strengthen as a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal by November 30. According to IMD, there is a possibility that the extreme low pressure moving in the north-west direction will intensify and become a cyclone in the next 48 hours.
