Woman 'Agniveer' commits suicide while undergoing training

PALLIKKAL: A Malayali woman who had gone for 'Agniveer' training in the navy was found hanging in the navy hostel room in Malvani. The deceased has been identified as Aparna V Nair (20), daughter of Shanthakumaran Nair and Vimala, of Udayamangalam house in Adoor. She reached Mumbai two weeks ago after the initial training and was undergoing training in INS Hamla.

When Aparna's roommate came on Monday morning, the room was locked from inside. Aparna did not respond to the calls and the woman informed the authorities. When they broke open the door, she was found dead. Navy sources said personal reasons were behind the death. Malvani police have started investigation. The Navy has also ordered an investigation. Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the residence. Siblings: Vishnu (England).
