WAYANAD: According to the post-mortem report, the leopard caught in Kannur's Peringathur died due to internal bleeding. The seven year old animal's head and right shoulder were injured due to the impact of the fall and this caused the bleeding. The post-mortem was conducted at the animal husbandry centre in Sultan Batheri's Kuppadi in Wayanad.
The leopard fell into the well of Sudhi's house under construction at Mamakandi Peedika in Aniyaram on Wednesday morning. The feline was taken out of it after traquilizing and administering a sedative. Later, the animal was shifted to a cage. It died shortly after.
The DFO ordered to tranquilize the leopard after draining the water from the well. Then the tiger was released. The forest department officials assume that the tiger's could have come to the densely populated Peringathur through the river.
